Rodrygo celebrate his goal against Club Brugge

Real Madrid were put to the test by Club Brugge after four goals rained in the final Group A game played in Belgium.

The first half did not produce the normal level of fluidity as both sides refused to take their chances especially with Brugge making a good start.

Rodrygo scored for Madrid 8-minutes into the second half.

Odriozola's cross didn’t give the Brazilian the easiest of chances, but he guided a wonderful low first time volley into the corner via the post to give the visitors the deserving lead.

Brugge quickly responded in two minutes time through Vanaken. Bonaventure was the creator with his strength and persistence key as he rolled the ball back for Vanaken to curl home a superb finish.

There was a touch of fortune about the build-up to Madrid’s second. After a ball was headed down, Rodrygo tried to do something with it and was challenged, but the ball deflected straight into the path of Vinícius. The finish, however, was smartness itself, guided first time into the corner.

Late into added time, Luca Modric killed the game for the visitors. The Croatian delivered a low strike towards the bottom right corner that evaded the hand of Mignolet after a been teed up by Casemiro on the edge of the box.

Madrid trailed PSG as both advance into the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League from Group A.
