Mehdi Taremi scored an injury-time goal against Chelsea to end the game in favour of FC Porto yet Chelsea’s 2-0 win in the first leg of the quarter-finals dominated the aggregate scores to push them into the semis.

The advantage means Chelsea have reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the eighth time, more than any other English side in the competition’s history.

It was a pretty uneventful opening half and that probably suited Tuchel and Chelsea down to the ground following chances at a premium at both ends. Porto dominated as Chelsea held them and tried hitting them on the counter but to no avail.

The biggest chance of the game fell for Pulišić in the 540minute after Chilwell delivered a hard-hit cross from the left and the Chelsea forward just couldn’t angle his foot properly to direct the ball towards goal.

The game was dominated by Porto who could not ask the questions Chelsea deserved to answer.

Substitute, Mehdi Taremi during injury time delivered a sublime overhead kick to fire the ball into Mendy's net to go up yet time wasn’t on their side to add a second.

The game ended 1-0 for Porto at Stamford Bridge but it was Chelsea who went through on a 2-1 aggregate.
