Two Pillion Riders Burnt to Death After Head on Collision

Two Pillion Riders have been burnt beyond recognition after a head-on collision with a passenger vehicle on Adawso and Apasare stretch in the Akuapem North Municipal of the Eastern Region

Two out of three persons on a private motorbike have been burnt to death in a fatal head-on collision with a commercial vehicle in between Adawso and Apasare stretch in the Akuapem North Municipal of the Eastern Region.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, around the hours of 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm.

The accident occurred after the motor rider, Kwaku Amponsah aged 19, together with 2 others, Abigail Mawuli, 24 years and Michael Abokyi, residents of Apasare had purchased fried rice from Adawso and were returning home on an unregistered Haojiin motorcycle.

Narrating the incident to Soiree News, the police investigator, Cpl Gyamfi lamented that the motor rider, Kwaku Amponsah veered off his lane when he was negotiating on a sharp curve, in between Apasare and Adawso, he then collided with a Hyundai H100 van with registration Number GT 5966-9 driven by one Kwaku Mintah coming from the Koforidua.

According to the police investigator the motorcycle caught fire after the head-on collision, as the fuel tank was not properly covered.

The rider Kwaku Amponsah and the second pillion rider, Abigail Mawuli who left behind a 7 months old baby were burnt beyond recognition.

 The bodies of the diseases have since been deposited at the Tinkong mortuary in the New Juaben South Municipal, for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, the third pillion rider, Michael Abokyi who was found about 6 meters from the accident scene with both legs broken and currently on admission at St. Joseph's government hospital that serves as Koforidua Regional hospital, responding to treatment.

 All the pillion riders are natives of Ankwaani, and a relative, but are residents of Apasare for farming.
