Information reaching Soiree News indicates that two Fulani herdsmen have raped and abused a lactating mother at Dromankese, a suburb of Nkoranza in the Bono East Region of Ghana.

Giving details of the incident to Soiree News, Assemblymember for the area, Evans Ohene Gyan said, the victim went to a nearby stream to fetch water where the herdsmen approached her and forced to have sex with her by abusing her.

According to the assemblyman, the woman after the incident reported the incident to her husband who proceeded to report the incident to the chiefs of the area. He said the matter has since been reported to police pending investigation and arrest.

However, the chiefs for the area and the police have assured the matter will not rest until an arrest is made.

Conflicts between farmers and Fulani herders are a prominent and growing conflict in some parts of  Ghana due to the indiscriminative way the cows destroys farms.

Although the Fulani’s have been living in Ghana for generations they are still not accepted among local community groups and are thus excluded from certain areas of political life and health services.
