Two Coronavirus cases, a Ghanaian and a Norwegian – Information Minister Confirms

The Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that, the two confirmed Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Ghana, involved a Ghanaian, and a Norwegian citizen.

The Minister disclosed that the Ghanaian citizen who works in abroad and returned to Ghana for a visit with the disease.

He mentioned that, the two confirmed cases, are both males, and that they entered Ghana through the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

According to him, the two started showing symptoms on Thursday and they reported to a health facility.

Mr Nkrumah made these revelations in a radio interview on Accra based Peace FM on Friday (March 13, 2020), per Graphic Online reports, disclosing that, the affected persons have been in Ghana for at least one week.

Oppong Nkrumah said they have been in Accra since they arrived in Ghana and have been isolated since the case was confirmed.

He reiterated the Ministry of Health (MoH) assurances that, processes have been initiated to trace persons who came into contact with the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ghana.

“I wish to assure all Ghanaians that the Government of Ghana together with all Health Partners will continue to work assiduously to ensure the situation is contained. Both patients are currently being kept in isolation and are stable.

"We have initiated processes for contact tracing,” a statement from the Health Ministry added.
