Two Assembly Meembers of Tamale Nyohini North and Kalariga Electoral Areas Appeals for Streets Lights.

The Assembly Member explained that since the street lights went off after the African Cup of Nations in 2008 stakeholders and the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly have turned a blind eye on the problem to do nothing to resolve the situation.

The two Assembly Members of Nyohini North and Kalariga electoral area in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region are appealing for street lights as residents move in darkness during the night.

Ibrahim Razack Naporo, the Assemblyman for Nyohini North electoral together with his colleague Assembly Member at the Electoral Area, Honourable Amadu Yahuza are calling for the attention of the Metropolitan Assembly to swiftly fixed the malfunctioning street lights in their electoral areas.

The street leading from Abedi Pele Roundabout towards the Aliu Mahama Stadium (New Sports Stadium) is always in total darkness in the metropolis. 

Honorable. Ibrahim Razack Naporo revealed that, since 2008 when Ghana hosted the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2008), Tamale Sports Stadium now renamed Aliu Mahama Stadium was a host city for Group D, which involved countries like Angola, Tunisia, Senegal, and Cameroon.

The Assembly Member explained that since the street lights went off after the African Cup of Nations in 2008 stakeholders and the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly have turned a blind eye to the problem to do nothing to resolve the situation.

He further stated that his electoral area has been frequently attacked by unscrupulous persons, which has led to the loss of lives and properties on the street behind the Stadium also known as condom road.

Speaking with some residents who are lamenting about the lack of street lights which has resulted in robbery and some shops even find it difficult to operate in the evening.

The residents on the appeal have called on the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (Mayor) Honourable Sule Salifu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency Honourable Haruna Iddrisu (Minority Leader of parliament), the Regional Minister Honourable Shani Alhassan Shaibu and the stakeholders to come to their aid and help put back the lights on the street lights as residents are struggling during the night.
