Two armed robbers have been shot dead by police in Obuasi after they tried robbing miners at Komfourkrom, a suburb of Obuasi.

Confirming the incident to Ghanaba on the Shaft morning show, Chief Sup. Joseph Nyaaba, Obuasi Divisional Police Commander said "we had information that robbers are making an attempt to rob small scale miners at Komfourkrom so we rushed there and met them”. They shot in a taxi that was carrying some of our men alongside the police patrol car. we returned the shots and killed two of them. One also escaped after sustaining injury".

The commander said the police got one AK 47 assault raffle and a locally made gun, however the third person bolted with a pistol but he's suspected to be weak and might die soon due to the severity of the injury he sustained.

It's quite vague, the nationality of these criminals, but the commander believes they are not Ghanaians.

"So far no family member showed up to the corpses but from the look of things, they’re not Ghanaians," he said.

The divisional commander also said security in Obuasi is very apt though several killings have been recorded in the past weeks.
