Tunisia anti-terrorism police detain former PM
After suspending the Ennahda-dominated parliament last year, President Kais Said has increased his control over the courts.
According to reports, anti-terrorism police have apprehended Ali Larayedh, a former prime minister of Tunisia, on suspicion that he was involved in transporting jihadists to Syria.
According to a lawyer, Mr. Larayedh, who is also a prominent member of the Islamist opposition Ennahda party, was interrogated for hours.
Ennahda blasted this as a clear infringement of human rights in a statement.
Rached Ghannouchi, the leader of the PRT, will likely be questioned later on Tuesday.
Ennahda denies the accusations.
