Tribal Appointments Have Exposed Mahama Led NDC Government
According to Abubakari Yakubu who doubles as the Communications Officer in the Sunyani East Constituency the appointment of predominantly Northern and Voltaian individuals to almost all the districts in the Ashanti Region raises concerns about the region’s representation.

A leading member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Abubakari Yakubu. popularly known as Baba Amando has raised red a flag over the favouritism and tribalism which have rocked the appointments system of the ruling NDC under President John Dramani Mahama government.
According to Abubakari Yakubu who doubles as the Communications Officer in the Sunyani East Constituency the appointment of predominantly Northern and Voltaian individuals to almost all the districts in the Ashanti Region raises concerns about the region’s representation.
While it is important to avoid tribalistic remarks, he fumed that it is crucial to question whether such a practice would be acceptable in other regions, including the North, where Ashanti individuals are typically appointed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Similarly, according to him, it is disheartening to observe the silence of Ashanti individuals within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in response to this issue.
"As a proud Northerner, I believe that President Mahama’s actions have undermined the representation of the Ashanti people and demand accountability," he noted.
To the extent that members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could have the audacity to inform the President that they will
not permit an Ashanti to be the MCE for Asanti Mampong, which is a constituency owned by the Ashantis, is a stark indication of the profound disrespect that the NDC holds for the people of the region.
Ashantis must rise because they are the pride of this country and deserve to be treated with respect.
If the appointment of an Ashanti individual to the North or Volta regions is deemed inadmissible, it should also be equally unacceptable for a Northerner of Voltarian descent to be appointed to the Ashanti Region.
All Chiefs under the King must stand against this injustice perpetrated by President Mahama against the People of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Despite the numerous injustices perpetrated by the President against the People of the Kingdom in relation to his appointments, the King remains the designated individual to mediate and resolve the Bawku Crisis.

It is intriguing to observe that other key appointments too in this government exclude Ashantis, yet uninformed Ashantis continues to glorify this disdain by supporting the perpetrator, the President.
