Trial malaria vaccine gives two-year protection

A novel malaria vaccine created by Oxford University has been tested in West Africa and has shown to provide up to 80% protection for two years.

More than 400 kids were given the shot during testing.

In sub-Saharan Africa, malaria, a parasite ailment spread by mosquitoes, claims the lives of roughly 500,000 children every year.

The Serum Institute in India, the largest maker of vaccines worldwide, is cooperating with the Oxford team.

According to the researchers, at least 100 million doses might be made at a reasonable cost in 2019.

Within a few weeks, they intend to submit data to the World Health Organization to get the vaccine approved.
