Total darkness (dumsor) has hit most parts of Akuapem north in the Eastern Region since Monday.

Residents have agitated that for the past 3 days the lights have gone out especially in the northern part of the district.

The agitations started after the was a total blackout for three consecutive days from 11 am to 7 pm each day without any prior notice from the power producers and distributors.

The inconvenience has cost many residents, institutions, and households huge deficits.

Areas mostly affected by the dumsor, are Obosomase, Tutu, Mampong, Abotakyi, and Amonokrom, all in the Akuapem North municipality.

According to some of the residents, their fear is that on Monday 1st of February 2021, the dumsor occurred between 11:00 am and lasted till 6:30 pm, and repeated on Tuesday at exactly the same time but the hours were increased to 7:30 pm which indicates that "Dumsor" is really back.

The power outages have also worsened water shortage in the municipality, making life unbearable in the aforementioned most communities.

The residents however have asked  ECG to address the issue before it gets out of hand.
