Togo's army has apologized profusely for killing seven adolescents on Saturday night that it believed to be jihadists.
The group was hit by an army aircraft on a night patrol, according to a statement from the army leader, Dadja Maganawe, who claimed responsibility for their deaths.
The victims were all between the ages of 14 and 18.
The youths, according to the media in the northern Savanes region, were returning home after celebrating the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha.
