Toddler killed in rare giraffe attack

According to local media, a giraffe attacked a 16-month-old child at a South African conservancy and murdered the child.

The young child and her mother, 25, were both trampled by the giraffe while they were at Kuleni Game Park in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The mother and child were residing in one of the conservancy's 14 unique lodges.

Although there are little information about the catastrophe, the police told the BBC that they had started an inquest.

The infant passed away after being transferred to the closest medical facility, according to Lieutenant Nqobile Madlala, according to BBC News.

Giraffes are frequently found in South African wildlife lodges and are not known to harm humans.

Kuleni Game Park is located in KwaZulu-Natal, a region that attracts both local and foreign tourists, 16 kilometers (10 miles) outside of Hluhluwe.
