Only One Earth was the theme of a World Environment Day clean-up effort coordinated by Zoomlion and the Jospong Group's Environmental Cluster today, Friday, June 3, 2022, from Zongo junction to Madina.

Because the purpose of this activity is to honor World Environment Day, the United Nations has designated June 5 as World Environment Day.

Gloria Anti, Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, stated that Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Jospong Group of Companies' Environmental Sanitation Cluster have taken the lead today and have come out to perform this clean-up exercise and to reduce the workload as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

She went on to say that they are setting a good example for others to follow in their respective districts and towns.

The Managing Director underlined the need of maintaining a clean and healthy workplace for us.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited collaborates with all assemblies; however, it is not Zoomlion's responsibility to apprehend persons who break the law; instead, the assemblies have that ability.

They still have a lot of work to do, according to her, especially in terms of educating the public about the need of maintaining a healthy environment.

"We are going to strengthen the Sensitization for individuals to buy into the idea of having a bin," she said, citing indications picked up during the exercise today.

They have also discovered that the majority of the trash-strewn along the streets and beneath bridges comes from households and that much of it could have been easily deposited in the homes if everyone had a bin.

Zoomlion will intensify their sensitization by convincing everyone to buy into their vision of a million bin initiative and instilling the habit of cleanliness in citizens, she added.

She believes that we have not yet reached the level of attitudinal change needed to improve citizens' attitudes about cleanliness, thus clean-up exercises will be held in schools and other locations.
