"Those Who Say I don’t Deserve to Win Artist of the Year are Wrong" - Kuami Eugene.

Kuami Eugene hits back at “haters”.

"Those Who Say I don’t Deserve to Win Artist of the Year are Wrong" - Kuami Eugene.
Highlife artist, Kuami Eugene.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) recently released a list of nominees for this year's event.

With Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy completely excluded from the list, some Ghanaians believe that highlife musician, Kuami Eugene also does not deserve to be nominated in the "Artist of the Year" category.

Ghanaians who made these claims believe that Kuami did not work as hard enough last year and that the VGMA should pull down his name from the list.

Kuami has gone on record to refute their claims, having spoken in an interview with Doreen Avio on JOY News, the artist said that he does not agree with what people who think he does not deserve the spot have said. He revealed that not only does he deserve to be nominated but deserves to win the award.

He claimed that he did "many works" and that those people are just not opening their eyes to see.

"With all the works I did, and people still say I don’t deserve to be nominated and even win the Artiste of the Yea," he said.

The category consisted of five artists, 4 male artists and 1 female namely:

Kuami Eugene

Kofi Kinaata

Although the motive of the haters is still not clear, he wonders if they have been paid by one of his competitors to bring him down or make him the least favourite to win the award.

Whether this is true or not, the winner of the awards will be announced at the 2020 edition of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards VGMA 2020.
