Nelson Semedo

Nelson Semedo is the latest Barcelona player to come out after Luis Suarez to reveal how Barcelona parted way with him.

The Portuguese was a starter for the Catalan club only to join Wolverhampton Wanderers for a £29 million deal on a three-year contract in the summer.

Arturo Vidal, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Nelson Semedo were victims of the club’s financial plights during the resumption of football after a few months coronavirus break.

The right-back in an interview with the Telegraph has narrated how the monetary trials gave him no option than to oblige to the club’s demands of selling him to raise funds.

"When I came back from holidays, I arrived in Barcelona and spoke with the club, as usual," Semedo told the Telegraph.

"They told me that the club was having some financial problems and I was one of the players who could leave and generate some money.

"There were others in the same position as me: [Luis] Suarez, [Arturo] Vidal, [Ivan] Rakitic ..."

The 27-year-old has featured 23 times for Wolves as they sit 12 with 26 points on the Premier League. They travel to the Etihad on Tuesday night to face league leaders, Manchester City.
