The Regional Commander COP/Mr Timothy Yoosa Bonga said the region for many years lived without a police band.

On assumption of duty, the demand for the services of the police band at national functions was a challenge as we had to refer such request to the National Headquarters for the band to come from Accra or Pwalugu in the Upper East Region.

The command was proposed and with persistent reminders and support with the commitment of the Director of Bands, C/Supt. Dr Frank Hukporti, thirteen band personnel arrived from the National Headquarters to commence the band unit while waiting for the regimental set for a complete band.

The arrival of the band personnel brought to light basic challenges militating against the successful performances, the major being the rehearsal room.

A certain man name Mr Kingsley Djokotoe came in to speed completely this modern rehearsal studio which he believes is one of the best in the Ghana police service.

According to the Northern Regional Minister Honorable Shaini, Alhassan Shaibu who was the guest speaker said, it's a great honour to hear that the police band is back in the Region, he said, the police band was helpful to them in the early 70s and he believes that this band will stay forever and be useful to the people of the Region.
