The NDC is rather fighting with the referee instead of finding ways to defeat their opponents" - Lawyer Dr. Maurice Ampaw

Lawyer Maurice Ampah has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rather focus on adapting improved methods to win the 2020 Presidential elections than to fight the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to invent a new voters’ register.

The coalition of political parties led by the biggest opposition party, the NDC staged two demonstrations, one in Tamale and the other in Kumasi against the invention of a new Voters Register. On Tuesday, the NDC held a massive demonstration on the streets of Accra to once again demand that the Electoral Commission halts its planned compilation of a new voter’s register for the December polls.

Speaking on Kumasi based Angel FM on Wednesday Morning on the issue, the private Legal practitioner advised that the NDC should find a way to defeat the convincing Nana Addo Dankwa’s New Patriotic Party instead of attacking the EC whose ruling cannot be altered, not even by the Supreme Court of Ghana.

“You cannot direct and interfere the decision of the Electoral Commission who does not take decision in consultation with anyone,” he said.

“The NDC is fighting instead of training to discover strategies and know the weakness of the incumbent government. They are rather fighting with the referee and is that normal? Meanwhile your opponent is strong.

“The state of the NDC should be on how to defeat NPP hands down,” he said.

Lawyer Ampaw concluded that the EC is a body of its own, which cannot be interfered by the decision of any political party therefore the biggest opposition party in Ghana in the name of the NDC should focus on winning rather than to engage themselves in protest marches, which will not solve their problems.

“The conclusion is that the power is with the EC and not even the supreme court can stop them so the NDC must find a better way to win the elections and quit the demonstrations which will do no good,” he ended.
