Paul Scholes has asked the Manchester United defence to take responsibility for their role after a poor organization which led to their loss in Turkey to Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils defence was wide apart after committing men forward during a corner which gave Demba Ba the free sprint from inside his area after Višća showed great vision with a superb long ball the former Chelsea man side-footing past Henderson for the home side’s first goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were trailing by two goals five minutes to half time before Anthony Martial halved the deficit but a comeback was not possible as the English side lost their first game in the European campaign.

This, the United legend explained the efforts of the backline as schoolboy defending, a decision which has gone bad against the Red Devils yet seems not to learn from their mistakes all this while.

“Surely you always have someone back on the halfway line, they’re pointing at Matic," he said on BT sports.

"You’re always goal side, it’s like Under 10’s football.

“You can understand if it’s last-minute but it’s the first ten minutes, it’s embarrassing.

“They’ve struggled with them attacking wise, they’ve gone with one holding player today. Defensively they’re all over the place.

“The defenders have to be better, forward play could be better as well. Defensively they’ve got to take responsibility, you have to defend 1v1 sometimes when you’re at Manchester United they seem incapable of doing it.”

PSG lost to RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena which intensifies the race in Group H although United lead with six points, with the German club also on six.

Ligue 1 champions, PSG are third with three-point and Istanbul Basaksehir also on three.
