Nana Ama McBrown has urged the general public to not be afraid of the coronavirus vaccine.

The actress explained that the vaccine would surely curb the spread of the dreaded pandemic and everyone who has the opportunity to take it should.

According to her, it is better to take the vaccine as a form of protection than to walk around without protection at all.

“It’s not painful. I’ve not experienced any pain yet and I’m praying I don’t.”

“I’m told everyone and how they react. If you get the opportunity and wish to take the jab, please do. And let’s continue to observe the protocols because that is the way to go.” she said.

Recently, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) revealed that over 200,000 individuals have so far taken the vaccine in the country.

The vaccination exercise began a week ago with the President, Vice President and their families taking the first jab.

Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye disclosed that 220,252 are on record to have been vaccinated.

“Greater Accra alone has vaccinated 128,088 but they have about 58,000 [persons] vaccinated yet to be entered [into the database].” Dr. Kuma-Aboagye explained.

The Greater Kumasi area has seen 69,325 persons vaccinated.

Ghana received 600,000 AstraZeneca shots on Wednesday, 24th of February, 2021 and in doing so became the first country to receive the delivery of Covax coronavirus vaccines.

The arrival in Accra is the first batch shipped and delivered in Africa by the COVAX Facility as part of an unprecedented effort to make 2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines available for delivery by the end of 2021.

The doses touched down in the capital, Accra, come from the Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer.
