The Church of Pentecost, Wenchifie District has donated 300 mathematical sets to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Bono Region.

Pastor Samuel Yirenkyi, the Wenchifie District Pastor told media practitioners present during the presentation that the donation was part of the church's social responsibility in supporting the government's efforts in providing quality and affordable education in the country.

He reiterated that the church exists in ensuring both the spiritual and social well-being of its members.

Mrs. Mary Nyarko Adutwum, the Wenchi Municipal Director of Education who received the items thanked the leadership of the Church for the gesture.

In appreciation, some of the students were overwhelmed by the donation and expressed their appreciation to the church for coming to their aid and were hopeful the mathematical sets would assist them in their examination.

A total of 20,159 candidates from 72 public and 17 private junior high schools are expected to sit in for this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which is slated for Monday 17th to Friday 21st October in the Wenchi Municipality.

The  Wenchi Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service registered 10,85 males and 10,74 females.
