Tension Brews In Greater Accra Regional NDC--Over Ashie Moore Fictitious Move To Pocket Mahama Cash For Delegates & Agents

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, has exposed the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore for violating the constitution of the party of arrogating power to himself to hijack and pocket the cash being donated by the former President John Dramani Mahama for the delegates of the party in the region in just ended NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries held on Saturday May 13, 2023.

The former President Dramani’s team ahead of the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, promised delegates an amount of GH¢40 as transport money after voting.

Speaking in an interview with an Accra based Citi FM, Mr. Tetteh Chaie accused Mr. Ashie Moore for conniving with the Greater Accra Regional Treasurer of the part, Mr. Mohammed Norga and succeeded in withdrawing the monies paid by Mr Dramani Mahama into the Greater Accra Regional official bank account of the NDC and he indiscriminately disbursed the monies to the delegates without the knowledge of the entire regional executives committee of the party.

He took a swipe at Ashie Moore of not handing over an amount of money from former President Dramani Mahama meant for the transportation of delegates in the region during the party’s primaries.
According to Mr. Chaie, the chairman was solely in charge of the disbursement of the funds.
This follows concerns raised by some delegates that they have not received the money Mr. Mahama promised.
Mr. Mahama’s team ahead of the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, promised delegates an amount of GH¢40 as transport money after voting.
Mr Tetteh Chaie asserted that Mr. Ashie Moore did the disbursement of the funds and must be held accountable for any issues associated with it.
“Well, these are monies for delegates, and there was a channel for distribution. What I’m saying is that the resources were not distributed by the regional treasurer. It was the regional chairman who did the disbursement.
The resources were put into our account, and it happened that the resources were withdrawn. And it is the party’s regional chairman who disbursed the money, so the regional executives do not hold that responsibility. In effect, it should be the treasurer who should be held responsible. But since it is not the treasurer who distributed the money, why must we suffer for the disbursement of the money?” the NDC’s Secretary in the Greater Accra Region questioned.
The beef of Mr.Tetteh Chaie stemmed from the fact that he found it extremely difficult to comprehend why the NDC functionaries and some concerned Ghanaians including the delegates and agents were blaming the entire Greater Accra Executives Committee of the party for the wrongfully and questionable disbursement of such monies to the delegates and agents by Mr. Ashie Moore.
He accusing him of collecting delegates and agents money and not paying them of the actual monies they deserved and called the National Executive Committee (NEC) to set committee to prone Mr. Ashie Moore and his followers including the treasurer.
He pointed out that it is rather unfortunate that the entire Greater Accra Regional branch of the NDC has blamed by this scandal, saying that it is very difficult to ascertain the truth or otherwise of this story which went viral in both social and local media platforms.
"But our worries are that the mentioning of the names of the entire Greater Accra Regional Executives of the NDC in the scandal.
"My position to speak on this matter on behalf of the entire Greater Accra Regional Executives Committee of the NDC was just to set the records straight that the disbursement of such funds were not done at the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the party as some people are perceived to be in the viral media reports," he stressed.
Mr. Tetteh Chaie admitted that the disbursements of funds were made to the delegates and agents of the party by Mr. Ashie Moore in his personal office.

He contended that there are pieces of documentary evidence which shows clearly  that the disbursements of such funds to the delegates and agents were not done in the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the NDC by Mr. Ashie Moore as it was widely reported.
When asked by host of Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Umaru Sanda Amadu that what are the structures of the disbursements of the money and that is it any directive from the office of the former President John Dramani Mahama in relations to what this money is going to be given to the delegates, Mr. Tetteh Chaie responded that the monies donated by Mr Dramani Mahama are delegate resources.
In the structure of the NDC, according to Mr Tetteh Chaiethe party has channels of the responsibilities for each party official and that he believes that the disbursement of the funds were mandatory duties of the treasurers of the party.
He noted that the treasurers of the NDC are mandated to ensure that the money resources  of the party goes to where they have to go, but in this case it was regional chairman who took the responsibilities distributions of the monies to the delegates.
"But l am saying is that if that is not the case, then it is very unfortunate because all the same like l said in my earlier interview that disbursement of such resources have gotten nothing to do with we the entire Greater Accra Regional Executives Committee of the NDC because the distribution of such resources did not come to the regional secretariat of the party," Mr.Tetteh Chaie explained.
"We are setting the records by clearing our names from the issue that the greater regional party chairman did shared the monies to the delegates in his personal office but we are saying that he has not brought the monies to be shared to the delegates in the Greater Accra Regional office of the party," Mr Tetteh Chaie told the Citi FM show host
