Tension Brews In Dusor Area Council Over Move By Podoe Assemblyman To Embezzel North Tongu District Assembly Revenue Collected

Tongues are wagging at Dusor Area Council under the North Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region over how the Assembly Member for Podoe Electoral Area, Honourable Ebenezer Adagbey has been accused of allegedly embezzling about GH₵ 6,000.00 revenue from the Tulaku cow market at Tsibukope, a suburb of Podoe.

The Soireenews.com has stumbled on a number of information in which Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe purportedly used his position and influence on the bonded revenue collectors to take the revenue collected from the Tulaku cow market at Podoe-Tsibukope and misappropriate.
The embezzlement of the Assemby revenue by Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe which has created serious tension and confusion within the district has become a bone of contention between the Chairman of Dusor Area Council, Honourable Isaac Gada and Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe.
The development which has informed the decision of Honourable Isaac Gada to officially report the matter to the police,calling on the police to arrest and investigate Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, Honourable Isaac Gada who doubles as the Assembly Member for Klumah Electoral Area confirmed the misappropriation of the revenue by Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe.
This criminal case, according to Honourable Isaac Gada is under police investigation, saying that he has taken the decision to officially report the matter to the Juapong Police Station after the top chiefs of the North Tongu District Assembly have refused to take proactive actions or measures to ensure that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe vomits the Assembly's cash he has embezzled.
According to him, Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe being a member of Dusor Area Council was tasked with primary responsibility to take in charge by way of ensuring the receiving of the various revenues being collected by the bonded revenue collectors from Tulaku cow market at Tsibukope to render account to him (Honourable Isaac Gada) to be submitted to the Assembly.
Honourable Isaac Gada disclosed that it is very known that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe has received the revenues being collected from the Tulaku cow market at Tsibukope by the bonded revenue collectors, but several attempts made by him to impress upon Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe to render account to him to be submitted to the Assembly has proved futile.
The Chairman mentioned that he has first officially reported the misconduct of Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe to the Coordinating Director of North Tongu District Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Laryea Tetteh and District Chief Executive for the Assembly Mr Divine Osborn Kwadwo Fenu, the assertions the two prominent personalities have described as certainly untrue.
In an interview with Soireebews.com via telephone call on Wednesday November 27, 2024, the Coordinating Director of North Tongu District Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Laryea Tetteh noted that Honourable Isaac Gada has not officially reported the matter to him.
He indicated that Honourable Isaac Gada only made a verbal complain to him that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe received revenues from the revenue collectors and he refuses to pay back the money to the Dusor Area Council Chairman to be presented to the Assembly.
He explained that the way the channel works in the Assembly is that since the Dusor Area Council Chairman was the one who singed and collect the General Counterfoil Recepts at the Assembly and gives to Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe and per the law, the Dusor Area Council is supposed to report the matter officially to the Assembly or he should make an official report to the police.
"Because the Dusor Area Council Chairman collected the General Counterfoil Recepts so he supposed to write to the Assembly and inform the Assembly that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe has received the revenues from the revenue collectors and he hasn't paid back and from this report the Assembly would take the matter from there," Mr Tetteh noted.
"My friend [referring to this journalist] l would like to tell you that the Chairman of Dusor Area Council, Honourable Isaac Gada told me that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe has received the revenue from the revenue collectors but he not paid back to me to be submitted to the Assembly," Mr Tetteh reaffirmed.
According to Mr Tetteh, "Honourable Isaac Gada just verbally mentioned this matter to me but he hasn't made any official report to me.
He added that "Honourable Isaac Gada reported this matter verbally to me but he couldn't even tells me the exact amount of money involved."
The Coordinating Director of North Tongu District Assembly indicated that "the Dusor Area Council Chairman was telling me that the money which
is with Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe, he guessed is either GH₵ 4000.00, or GH₵ 5000.00 or GH₵ 6000,00 so he didn't tell me the actual amount of money for which Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe has embezzled."
"So l have advised Honourable Isaac Gada that he should report officially report to my outfit of how much money that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe is supposed to pay to him to be submitted to the Assembly. This is because I have personally met Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe and ask him about the matter and he admitted or accepted that the money is with him but Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe also did not tell me the actual money involved.
"In this regard even one chief approached me and he wanted to pay back the money on behalf of Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe but l told the chief that no...this is because the auditors are with us," Mr Tetteh noted.
He stresed that "l am expecting the Dusor Area Council Chairman to write officially to Assembly because he signed and collected the Counterfoil Recepts and that l believe he writes officially to the Assembly, then my outfit will use the letter as a legal backing to take on Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe."
Mincing no words, Mr Tetteh stated that his District Chief Executive Mr Divine Osborn Kwadwo Fenu has no knowledge about this case involving Honourable Isaac Gada and Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe.
He also refuted allegations levelled against the DCE by Honourable Isaac followers his followers who are supporters and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area that the DCE was the one who has reported the matter to the journalist to make the publication to defame him.
Mr Tetteh stressed that Honourable Isaac Gada and his followers should leave "our DCE alone because he has no hands in this matter, adding that the DCE not even aware of embezzlement of the Assembly's revenue by Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe.
For his part when contacted, the DCE told the journalist that the matter of embezzlement of the Assembly's revenue by Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe has been brought to his attention.
"I must state that l am not aware of this matter l am only hearing this matter from you [referring tgis journalist] at the first time because normally when the matter of embezzlement of Assembly's revenue reported to the Assembly, it is the District Finance Officer (DFO) and officials of the Account Department of the Assemby who dealt with these matters first. So as at now l am not aware," the DCE clarified.
When contacted, Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe simply stated that "as at the time l am speaking to you l have not sat down with the Dusor Area Council Chairman, Honourable Isaac Gada to go through the General Counterfoil Recepts (GCR) and know actual amount of money collected by the revenue collectors which contained in the GCR."
"And that l have decided that on Thursday November 28, 2024, l am going to the Dusor Area Council Chairman, Honourable Isaac Gada to sit to go through the GCR to know how mount of money was collected," Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe stated.
But Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe was expised
for lying because information available to Soireenews. com points out that the Chairman has reported him to the police for embezzling Assembly's revenue.
However, the concerned residents of Dusor have stated that Honourable Ebenezer Adagbe is not a member of the Dusor Area Council of the North Tongu District Assembly and dared the chairman of Dusor Area Council, Honourable Isaac Gada to, immediately make all his proofs in the public.
