Some concerned youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Gushegu Constituency in the Northern Region are raising red flags over what they describe as unlawful disqualification of the ten (10) aspirants contesting the constituency executives election scheduled to take off this weekend.
This unlawful disqualification the NPP youth stated has already caused tension and division in the NPP as it has stifled dissent and freedom of expression in the party.
The current executives according to the youth preached unity ahead of the NPP constituency elections but are now bent on stirring confusion and tension in the party and appealed to the hierarchy of the party to intervene in arresting the situation.
This they said if not done tends to affect the chances in the 2024 general elections.
 
 In this process, the ten (10) aspirants who have been disqualified from contesting in constituency elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Gushegu in the Northern Region have stormed the NPP National Headquarters in Accra with their complaints.
 
The information on available to this news outlet indicates that the aggrieved 10 disqualified aspirants have since petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of NPP and copied to the Northern Regional office of the NPP and NPP executives committee seeking a review ahead of the contest that comes off this weekend.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chairman of the Constituency Executive Elections Committee in line with articles 3(d) and 4(7) of the NPP’s constitution.
The affected persons include; Zakaria Hafizu as Youth organizer, Abukari Adamu as Women organizer, Mohammed Zibilila as First Vice-chairman, Mohammed Mariam as Deputy secretary, and Fuseini Musah as Nasara coordinator.
The others are, Fusheini Yakubu for Chairman, Amadu Abu for Secretary, Bawa Yakubu Yamusah for Organizer, and Abdulai Bashiru for Treasurer.
The Elections Committee accused the disqualified aspirants of campaigning against the then NPP parliamentary candidate in the area for which reason they are not regarded as members of good standing to contest.
“Any conduct which has the effect of any of the above or is similar in nature to any of the above shall amount to misconduct and shall attract sanctions Including fines, suspension, expulsion from the Party, or disqualification from holding any office or position In the Party for a stated period,” the statement asserted
