Ten (10) illegal miners have been busted by the Akyem Asuom Police Command in collaboration with Tweapease residents.

He quickly called the District Commander of Police if Asuom who indicated that he attended a funeral in the North of Ghana, but issued a command to the district police driver. Men were organized and a beef-up of security was structured through the help of Tweapease youth.

Abusuapanin further explained, that he sent some energetic men to lead the police into the scenes and fortunately enough, 10 of the illegal miners were arrested, currently in custody waiting for interrogation before the court.

According to Nana Akwasi Asamoah, some of the miners known as gold detectors were able to escape.

Nana Akwasi Asamoah asserted that Galamsey is rampant at Tweapease because most individuals in the farming community have released their farmlands to be used for mining.

He emphasized that all attempts to fish out the illegal miners from the community several times has hit on a rock as informants in the community find it prudent to give the miners a hint to escape arrest.
