A group calling itself concerned branch executives of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono Region is calling on the leadership of the party to withdraw the case being heard at the Wenchi High Court and instead, focus on winning the 2024 election.

It will be recalled that the Parliamentary candidate for Techiman South Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Christopher Beyere filed a petition before the Wenchi High Court calling for the December 2020 general election to be annulled.

In his petition, he wants the court to declare that the gazetting of Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah as the winner is null and void.

The verdict by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Techiman South Constituency stated that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate won with 49,682 votes representing 50.2 per cent of the total valid vote cast, whilst the NDC’s candidate had 49,205 votes representing 49.8 per cent of the total valid votes cast.

But the group believes there are numerous internal issues that need resolution than the parliamentary election lost to NPP.

Speaking to Soiree News, the Leader of the group, Kwadwo Adjei said they have observed through the court case that there is disunity in the party front and must be tackled going into the 2024 general election.

They are therefore calling for the withdrawal of the case with immediate effect.
