Techiman Municipal Assembly Disburses Common Fund to Persons With Disabilities

As part of efforts of the Government to empower persons with disabilities to undertake economic ventures that will sustain their daily lives, the Techiman Municipal Assembly in the Bono East regional capital has presented cash and items to fifty-nine (59) Persons with Disabilities.

Techiman Municipal Assembly Disburses Common Fund to Persons With Disabilities

As part of efforts of the Government to empower persons with disabilities to undertake economic ventures that will sustain their daily lives, the Techiman Municipal Assembly in the Bono East regional capital has presented cash and items to fifty-nine (59) Persons with Disabilities.

The source of funding for the donation is the 3% share of Common Fund allocation to persons with disabilities and the items included bags of cement, water pumping machine, Gari Processing machines, Fufu pounding machines, cement, and Deep freezers.

Present at the ceremony which took place at Bononkyempem hall were Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah Techiman South MP and a deputy Minister for Local Government, the Regional Social Welfare Department Director, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Chairman of the Persons with Disabilities Fund Management Committee, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentemprem, and other Religious leaders including the Regional Chief Imam.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman urged them to take proper care of the items and invest in productive ventures that will uplift their standards of living and welfare.

Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Solomon Kwaku Amaning Techiman Municipal Social Welfare Officer had revealed that the Assembly shall conduct regular monitoring to ensure that beneficiaries use the support for the purpose for which they were granted and further advised them not to sell the items they have received from the Assembly as that has been the practice of some beneficiaries in the past.


Finally, some of the Persons with Disabilities who received the items expressed their gratitude to the Techiman Municipal Assembly and NPP government.
