The Palace of Tamale Dakpema (Market Leader of Tamale) has refuted claim's that its outfit facilitated the arrest of some individuals who were performing the funeral of the late Buglana, Abdul Rahman Alhassan by joint security operatives.

Buglana (Priest) is a sub-chief in all the traditional set-ups in the Northern part of Ghana who has the authority to perform or administer all kinds of traditional rites.

At a press conference at the Dakpema palace, the entertainment chief of Tamale, Chief Adam Musah denied the palace involvement in the arrest, stating emphatically that the Dapkema palace has no knowledge about an arrest at the Buglana's palace.

He revealed that the arrested person's flouted the ban on public gatherings, which the Tamale Metropolitan Security Council on several occasions warned the Buglana's palace not to go ahead with the late priest funeral.

"The family of the late Buglana were cautioned not to go ahead with the funeral process due to covid-19 restrictions," he said.

"We were informed by the security council that the late Buglana's family had been cautioned and that they had agreed to suspend the planned performance of his funeral".

Chief Musah however indicated that, though the Dakpema palace has an unresolved issue with the family of the late Buglana which has to do with the symbol of authority, they did not sanction the arrest.

Chief Musah noted that the late Buglana Abdul Rahman Alhassan was enskinned by the late Dakpema Richard Alhassan as a sub-Chief of the  Dakpema traditional area.

According to him, the late Buglana's family are free to perform the late chief funeral when the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

He implored the Buglana family to return the symbol of authority to the Dapkema palace, which was used to enskin the late chief as the Buglana of Tamale.

"The position of the Dakpema palace on this issue is that return the symbol of authority and go ahead with the performance of the funeral after all evey soul must taste his funeral performance when he dies.

"The symbol of authority which was used to enskin the late Buglana's remains the property of Dakpema and must be returned to me to enable Tamale Dekpema to enskin a new Buglana on the last day of the performance of the funeral of the late Buglana," he said.
