The Executive Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has held a meeting with all its stakeholders to have a deliberation on the review of the National Health Insurance Scheme’s (NHIS) medicine list with a call on the stakeholders to Let us all ensure the survival of the financial sustainability of the NHIS.

The Executive Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has held a meeting with all its stakeholders to have a deliberation on the review of the National Health Insurance Scheme’s (NHIS) medicine list, with a call on the stakeholders to Let us all ensure the survival of the financial sustainability of the NHIS.

 

The chairperson for the meeting, who is also a board member of the NHIA, Dr Sylvester Oppong deemed the meeting very important as he explained that the authority pays close attention and keen interest to medicines on the NHIS medicine list as well as claims made.

 

Dr Sylvester Oppong further pleaded with participants to have a dispassionate deliberation which would go a long way to serve and promote the interest of the NHIA as well as all stakeholders involved. Let us all ensure the survival of the financial sustainability of the NHIS.

 

In his words "let us have a dispassionate deliberation to ensure the survival of the NHIS to have a win-win situation for all," he said.

 

In a statement read on behalf of the CEO of the NHIA, Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby by Mrs Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, who is in charge of administration and data, who was impressed with the attendance of participants, reiterated the need for a dispassionate deliberation.

 

Mr.s Pokuaa Baiden in treading the statement noted that the uncontrolled pricing of medicines remains a challenge for the authority.

 

She, therefore, called on all stakeholders to support the NHIS to sustain the scheme and serve mother Ghana better.
