Martin Obeng, Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive, has disclosed the Assembly is set to deploy a joint forestry cum police task force to clamp down on the Fulani menace in the area.

This is in the wake of herds of cattle having destroyed farms at New Wenchi-Ahyiaem, a community near Chiraa.

Mr Kwabena Mensah, leader of the affected farmers indicated that all efforts to get the authorities to get the issue resolved had yielded no positive results.

Speaking to Soireenews, he said the task force was meant to contain the menace.

The chief farmer added the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) had held several meetings over the activities of the Fulani’s on how it could be curtailed; adding one of the herdsmen was in Police custody awaiting prosecution.

Mr Mensah asked residents to exercise restraint as efforts were being made to tackle the issue, adding they would pray to the court for compensation to the farmers whose products were destroyed.
