The Municipal Chief Executive, Martin Obeng told that the Assembly is embarking on such challenges in view of the spike in the cases of Covid 19 in the country and advised residents to comply with the protocols.

Sunyani West Municipal Assembly has begun distributing PPEs to residents in the Municipality to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the first point of call being the chiefs and people of Chiraa.

Martin Obeng, Municipal Chief Executive, led the distributing team that included Issah Baffoe, Municipal Education Director, DSP Eric Anaba, Municipal Police Commander and some other dignitaries of the Assembly.

More than 1,000 face masks and hand sanitisers were shared at the Chiraa market, while three boxes of hand sanitisers, energy-saving bulbs for the chiefs were received by the Gyasehene, Nana Kumi Akyeaw, who represented the Chief of Chiraa, Barima Minta Afari II.

Addressing the media, the MCE said the gesture was necessary in view of the spike in the cases of Covid 19 in the country and advised residents to comply with the protocols of wearing the face mask, social distancing, hand washing with soap under running water and the application of hand sanitisers.

 Mr Obeng also called on the general public to get vaccinated as President Akufo Addo and other dignitaries, have taken the jab.

Nana Kumi Akyeaw commended the Assembly for the gesture and on behalf of the Chiefs and people expressed gratitude to the MCE and his officers.

DSP Eric Anaba cautioned that the police would not hesitate to arrest residents who would refuse to comply with the protocols.
