The legal luminary observed with grave concern that the diabolical move by President Mahama to direct all public institutions and companies to revoke all public service recruitments and appointments is going to worsening areadly high unemployment rate situation in the country.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Honourable Kofi Obiri Yeboah, has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as "autocratic decision" made by President to direct all heads of government institutions to nullify all appointments made by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration after December 7, 2024.
The legal luminary observed with grave concern that the diabolical move by President Mahama to direct all public institutions and companies to revoke all public service recruitments and appointments is going to worsening areadly high unemployment rate situation in the country.
Honourable Yeboah described the President’s action as illegal, wicked, unacceptable and needless.
"I think that President John Dramani Mahama has
no legal stance to revoke any appointment and recruitments of Ghanaians into the public offices or institutions after DecemberSaturday 7, 2024.
"Ghanaians have voted for you to work for them. Do you know that your actions are going to create more unemployment rate situation in Ghana.
"Are you not voted to work for the interest of Ghanaians or who are you working for? Is it Ghanaians or members/supporters of the NDC? I entreat the persons affected by this decision by President John Dramani Mahama to muster courage to challenge him in law court for justice to prevail," Honourable Yeboah said.
Speaking further, Honourable Yeboah called on
persons affected by President Mahama’s directive for last-minute appointments by the Akufo-Addo administration to be revoked, to drage the matter to the law court.
According to him, the President John Dramani Mahama led NDC administration has no business revoking the appointments of Ghanaians in this manner.
The legal luminary could not fathom why the current President Dramani Mahama has not attacked any detail explanation to his decision to revoke appointments and recruitments of Ghanaians into the public offices or institutions after DecemberSaturday 7, 2024.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has directed all heads of government institutions to nullify all appointments made by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration after December 7, 2024.
This is contained in a circular cited by 3news.com dated February 10, 2025, and addressed to all Heads of Government Institutions.
“Consistent with Government pronouncement in relation to near end of tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December, 2024 are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” Mr Debrah wrote.
He therefore directed that, “accordingly, all Heads of Government Institutions are hereby requested to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by 17th February 2025.”
“Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated,” he urged.
The move is likely to impact individuals who secured public sector appointments or recruitments following the 2024 general elections.
Although no official explanation has been provided for the nullification, sources indicate that it is part of the government’s initiative to promote fairness and transparency during the public sector transition.
