Atletico Madrid have officially announced that Luis Suarez has joined the club on a free transfer.

 

 

The Madrid club will pay six million euros in variables to Barcelona throughout the Uruguayan's two-year deal at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

“Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement over the transfer of Luis Suárez, subject to passing his medical and agreeing and formalizing the Uruguayan's contract with our club,” the statement said.

The Barcelona number 9 nine will earn nine million euros after tax per year at Atletico according to Marca.

He follows the footsteps of David Villa, who left the Catalan club to play for Rojablancos in the latter part of his career after scoring 198 goals in 283 appearances for Barcelona in his six years of stay at the Camp Nou.

He won four LaLiga Santander titles, one Champions League, four Copa del Rey titles, one UEFA Super Cup, two Supercopa de Espana titles and one Club World Cup, as well as a Pichichi Trophy.
