Students of Ghana Senior High School in Tamale are compelled to share dam water with animals due to the irregular flow of water in the school.

The school has been battling with water crisis for a longer period of time and the unbearable situation have affected the studies of students as they spend hours at a distant dam to fetch water.

In an interview by Soireenews with some of the learners during a visit, they described the situation as a disturbance to their academic performance as the unfamiliar water has started breeding diseases among them.

They revealed that some of their colleagues have contracted skin rashes due to the untreatable water they use and others have sores on their tongue because they use the water to brush their teeth.

Lack of water in the school for some time had encouraged lateness, absenteeism, truancy, inattentiveness and sleeping in class as most students have to walk for long distance to reach the dam.

Those from poor homes are forced to drink the dam water because their parents couldn't add any extra money to buy sachets water, hence they are forced to drink the untreated dam water and even use some to soak gari.

The students are appealing to Non- Governmental Organizations and Philanthropist to come to the aid of the school for good drinking water.
