The Vice-Chancellor for Sunyani Technical University, Professor Kojo Adinkrah Appiah has revealed that the Agric Department of the Institution is setting up a Centre for research on cashew processing.
According to him, cashew has been one of the backbones for the farmers in the region but their inability to process them into a finished product is a major problem.
Professor Kojo Adinkrah Appiah is of the view that the university will play its part to ensure that cashew farmers will not only sell raw products.
“The motive behind the setting up of centre for research to cashew processing is to add worth to cashew so that the farmers will get value for money”, he stressed.
He added that the University is putting measures in place to ensure that its students will be competitive and well equipped after passing through the institution.
“The school will not take for granted the opportunity bestowed on them by the government the university status”, the VC passionately said.
He made this known when Sunyani Stakeholders for Development Association visited the institution.
