As more nations continue to ship humanitarian aid, authorities in Malawi report that the number of people who are still missing as a result of Storm Freddy has increased from 349 to 427.

On Monday, Malawi's Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) reported receiving rapid assessment reports from 15 of the country's affected areas.

"As of Monday, March 20, 2023, there are 508,244 displaced individuals. In addition to 1,332 injuries, the mortality toll increased from 476 to 499, according to a statement from DoDMA.

Teams from a number of nations, including the UK, Tanzania, and Zambia, have been sent to aid in relief efforts.

For the second time in a month, the cyclone hit Mozambique and Malawi last week, causing the destruction of numerous homes and the beginning of extensive flooding.
