School feeding program, Ghana

A joint statement from the National Secretariat of Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) and the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) have cautioned  Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) from unilaterally reallocating beneficiary schools to new caterers.

The cautioned statement was contained in a press release jointly issued by the GSFP and the MoGCSP urging all Regional party Executives, GSFP Regional Coordinators across the country to desist such an act.

"We wish to state emphatically that management of GSFP and MoGCSP have not sanctioned or approved reallocation of beneficiary schools to any caterer or group of caterers for the the new academic year", the National Coordinator, Mrs Gertrude Quashigah noted

"We reiterate that we have not authorized or engaged in any arrangements with any assembly, party executives and Regional Coordinators to reallocate or change schools for caterers for the 2020/2021 academic year", the statement noted.

The statement further directed all careers nationwide under the programme not to get themselves involved in any such arrangement purporting to reallocate them schools.

"As schools reopen for the commencement of 2021/2021 academic year, all GSFP caterers must continue to cook for the schools they have been originally allocated to serve per their contract", the statement urged.

The statement further cautioned that any GSFP caterers who fails to adhere to the directive but decides to cook for new schools other than the ones originally assigned them, do that at their own risk as no payment would be made for their services.

"It is pertinent to note that only GSFP National Secretariat has the sole mandate and authority to allocate and reallocate beneficiary schools" the statement added.

The National Coordinator, GSFP, Mts.Gertrude Quashigah by the press statement is urging all individuals involved in the illegal act to desist from it as the practice has the tendency of undermining the successful implementation and sustainability of the programme.
