A crime officer with the Criminal Investigative Department of the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service and Head of the Crime Scene Management Department, Detective Oppong Prince Amankwaa is urging parents to stop pretending their children are good whenever issues of crime and suicide occur.

He was commenting on a discussion on Ark FM Afisem on the topic “Suicide Management” saying the majority of the suicide cases among teenagers recorded by his outfits were as a result of broken hearts and pregnancy.

He expressed worry over some actions by parents where they will pretend their children are innocent blaming the police service for fabricating false reports to tarnish their children’s image.

According to Detective Prince Amankwaa, the service does not gain anything for doing so hence urging parents to be truthful whenever discussing police report on how their children committed suicide.

He however wants parents to build some cordial relationship with their children so they can confide in them whenever they are going through challenges.
