Stop Illegal  Abortion Of  Pregnancies Now Midwife Warn Women

The Midwife in charge of the Maternity ward of the Sampa Government Hospital in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, Madam Diana Kudjo has expressed worry that most of the maternal mortality in the country occurs as a result of illegal abortion. 

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com, Madam Diana explained that most women sometimes try to terminate pregnancies with a mixture of some concoctions and other means not prescribed by health practitioners which may end up taking their lives. 

She emphasized that there are other herbalists or self-acclaimed health workers without licenses who secretly play key roles in abortions that end up posing negative health effects on most women.

She explained that due to the high maternal mortality associated with abortion in the country, some health practitioners in the health services of the country have been trained to offer comprehensive Abortion care to women who for some reason may decide to terminate their pregnancies to have a safe abortion to safeguard their lives.

Clarifying the purpose of the implementation of comprehensive Abortion care being introduced by the Ghana Health Service, Madam Diana Kudjo said that it is a way to help eradicate illegal abortion that leads to the sudden death of most women.

She added that it also helps women with a mental disorder who are impregnated by unknown men to terminate the pregnancy with family concerns because the unborn child may be in life difficulties when given birth to.

He stated that it is also based on doctors' advice to the pregnant woman if the pregnancy may cause future health problems to the mother or the unborn child. 

She advised women especially the youth to desist from illegal abortion because it may pose a health danger to the women shortly.
