"Stop chasing our men"- Elembelle women cry call on IGP

Some women of Teleku-Bokazo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region have called on the IGP Dr. Akoffu Dampare to order his men to stop chasing out the men in the town as their community is turning into only womenfolk community.

The women explained that, ever since IGP gave orders for the arrest of the youth in the town who vandalize the Essiama police station, all their men have run out from the town.

It would be recalled that on 1st April this year, a young energetic man, Andrews Donkor, a native of the area was shot and killed by a military person on duty at Adamus mining company at court premises at Nkroful.

The incident resulted in the mutiny of the youth and a subsequent attack on the Esiama Police station.

The IGP later visited the area and vowed that all those involved in the attack on the police station should be arrested.

Before leaving the community, the IGP is reported to have ordered police personnel in the area to arrest all the youths who got involved in the attack which the majority of the men from Teleku-Bokazo have fleed from the area.

At a press conference held at Bokazo, some worried women called on the IGP to signal his men to suspend the supposed arrests for a peaceful resolution among the people in the area.

The convener of the women's group, John Jerry Amoseh who spoke on behalf of the women told Sorienews that, upon the orders of the IGP, all the men in the community has run out of the community leaving only the women to stay in the town which to the women cannot cope with the situation.

Some of the women who spoke in an interview said they are calling on the government to release their men who were arrested to pave way for those who have taken to their heels to return home because they are starving of sex and food.
