Stop Attacking MCE Patrick Kumor Or Else … - Weija-Gbawe trouble makers warns
Patrick Kumor, MCE Weija-Gbawe

Wide condemnation has rocked the recent heinous behaviours of the members of the so-called Concerned Citizens group of Weija-Gbawe in Accra who fought and attacked the integrity of the hard-working Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Patrick Kumor.

The group made several unguided and untrue statement against the MCE and asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to nominate or appoint Mr Kumor again as the MCE of the area because of his abysmal performance whiles in office.

The group is calling for Mr Kumor removal from office for non-performance and have requested the President not to renew his mandate he wants to expedite development in the community because he has failed to perform to the expectation of the people he claims to be serving.

They accused the MCE of financial malfeasance and neglect of the party members within the Municipality and also alleged that the MCE, both in conduct and in speech fueled factionalism by selectively working with few preferred party executives.

The group accused Patrick Kumor of sidelining them and disregarding party structures in the discharge of his duties.

Spokesperson to the group, Nii Kwartei Quartey said the abysmal performance is obvious that Patrick Kumor cannot perform hence need to be shown the exit since he has not been able to champion infrastructural development to the area.

The group warned the Weija Asafoatse Nii Ayi Pampanku I, to stay clear out of their way, according to them anytime they plan to embark on any plan to drum home their point, he intervenes and calls on them to exercise restraint - they believe he gets some financial as well as other inducement packages from the MCE and the Member of Parliament (MP), Honorable Tina Mensah hence his constant support for the two.

They further warned that this time around his interventions won’t be heeded to because they have had enough and believe it’s time for a more competent grassroots party person to be nominated and appointed for the MCE position for Weija-Gbawe.

They mentioned the following as potential MCE’s, Afriyie, Philip, Blue boy, Brother, Fataw, Yaw Prempeh, Adu Boahene, Bekoe, Area Mama, Seth and Quinoo among several others.

The Group also expressed their disappointment in the Member of Parliament for Weija -Gbawe for what they described as the neglect of party executives as she has failed to offer help to them and the youth of the party who are in dire need of help.

“Tina Mensah and Patrick Kumor should tell us who amongst the party executives as well as the grassroots whom they have helped”. They stated.

But these statement made against the MCE by the group were described as completely untrue by the top shots of the various political parties in the area including traditional office holders, chiefs, youth, Assembly members, religious leaders and market folks in all the electoral areas within the Weija-Gbawe Municipality.

The scores of the residents who jumped into the defence of the MCE have issued strong-worded warnings to the various members of the so-called Concerned Citizens group of Weija- Gbawe to, immediately stop their continuous habit of attacking or making false allegations against their hard-working Municipal Chief Executive.

Consequently, the aggrieved residents called on the members of the group led by Nii Kwartei Quartey to urgently render an apology to the MCE and that failure on their part to do so would incur their wrath.

According to them, the recent call made by the members of Concerned Citizens group of Weija-Gbawe for publication asking the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to nominate or appoint Mr Kumor again as the MCE of the area because of his abysmal performance whiles in office is absolutely out of place or amounts to the gross disrespect to the MCE.

"We know all the trouble makers who are wrongly attacking the integrity of our MCE, they would not succeed. They would surely fail because the MCE is simply a wonderful personality who absolutely work hard to change the lives of the people in all the electoral areas within the municipality. We don't do politics, but Mr Kumor is really a leader and a team changer. It will be a great joy to have him appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo again, even though God has revealed something bigger," some residents who are leaders of the Faith-based organisations told this reporter.

In a random sampling investigation conducted by the Soireenews.com in the electoral areas within Weija-Gbawe Municipality, the people who were sampled vehemently condemned the actions of the group, saying the MCE has performed to the expectation of the people he served.

They said they would rate Mr Kumor 90 out of a hundred, based on performance in the education, security, sanitation, health, human relations, and road networks sectors, adding that the MCE deserves to be reappointed by President Akufo-Addo again for him to continue to develop the area.

According to them, the evidence of the various social and infrastructure intervention projects and programmes such as education, sanitation, provision of water facilities, road networks, human relations, health, security, agriculture, job creation done by the MCE during his administration were all visible in all the all electoral areas within the Weija- Gbawe municipality.

Those interviewed were chiefs, children of school-going age, traditional office holders, youth, Assembly members, religious leaders and market folks in all the electoral areas.

They told that those who were making such statement against the MCE were known disgruntled supporters and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who contested various electoral positions and lost.

Residents described those disgruntled members of the group as the nation wrestlers and stated that the allegations levelled against the MCE to the effect that Mr Kumor has worked with few preferred NPP constituency executives were all false and lies.

The residents outlined the several social and infrastructure projects and programmes that have been undertaken by the Weija Gbawe MCE,  saying that he was able to champion the social and infrastructure development to the area.

They established that Weija Gbawe is flourishing during Mr Kumor term of office, and they detailed the projects, both completed and ongoing in the municipality.

SANITATION

In an attempt to manage sanitation issues in Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly, the residents noted that Mr Kumor has positioned eighty-four 340ml bins at vantage points in the assembly; which is aimed at controlling the rampant instances of littering.

To redeem the situation, they indicated that the MCE  has made provisions for ‘borla taxis’ which are designed to go round and empty the bins on a daily basis, to ensure a very clean environment for the assembly.

They said Hon Kumor also supplied sanitation facilities to Oblogo Kindergarten block at Tetegu, an Islamic School at Mallam Gbawe, Djoma, and Weija Presby Junior High School.

SECURITY

A fence wall has been erected around the Gbawe Methodist School to ensure the safety of the pupils in the school.

They added that under the administration of the MCE, the crime rate is relatively less under his term in office, due to the illumination of the streets with lights at points of crime incidence.

EDUCATION

In terms of infrastructure and amenities, they pointed out that Mr  Kumor had provided mono-desks and dual beds to the schools, adding that the excess was given to schools outside the municipality.

HEALTH

They mentioned that under the administration of Weija Gbawe MCE, a total of four CHPS (Community Health-Based Planning and Services) compounds have been built in the municipality, with the help of Hon Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah (Member of Parliament of Weija Gbawe and the Deputy Minister of Health).

They noted that during administration of the MCE, the Akawe Hospital has undergone expansions such as a new, befitting maternity block.

To ease the pressure on Akawe, they said the MCE has ordered for  the construction of the CHPS compounds for satellite areas that will require other health posts.” The places they mentioned included Oblogo, Tetegu, and Weija.
