Residents of Nkotompo have resorted to removing and stealing stones used in strengthening the rail line from Takoradi harbour - Kojokrom –Awaso.

Some residents of Nkotompo who spoke on condition of anonymity said, they will attribute the bad practice to the division among the Assemblymember and the Unit committee members as they are at loggerheads.

The Union Chairman of Ghana Railway Authority Western Region, Mr. Godwin Ntaamah speaking to the media said the people at Kojokrom-Angu-Awaso steal the stones that were used to construct the railway line. They as well cut off the old rail lines stretch.

He asserted that series of meetings have been conducted with various Assembly members on how the line could be taken care of but that did not materialize as residents persistently embarked on the bad practice.

He, however, stated that national security operatives should be deployed to disguise themselves to apprehend anyone who attempts to remove stones or cut the old rail line and be put before the court to serve as a deterrent to others.
