Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has hit out at critics that keep pointing out that he doesn't get enough BET nominations.

Shatta explained that BET (Black Entertainment Award) is meant for hip-hop artistes while the IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music Award) is designed for dancehall artistes therefore since he and Stonebwoy are both dancehall artistes, they both should be focused on winning that.

He called out his ignorant critics while speaking as a guest on UTV’s United Showbiz Show, educating them on the facts that only artistes like Sarkodie should worry about the BET.

Shatta Wale has 3 IRAWMA awards in total and he vehemently berated the media for not publicizing that, instead of going on to publicize his failure to be nominated for a BET.

"Ghanaians like that too much! If you don’t get a BET award, they discredit every other award you get which shouldn’t be so. My brother Stonebwoy and I should be focused on IRAWMA Awards because it celebrates African dancehall artistes across the globe." He fumed.

"See let me tell you this, the BET is dominated by Hip Hop and RnB artists and I will always pick the IRAWMA over it because its the only award scheme that celebrates dancehall artistes.”

“The BET awards should be fought over by people like Sarkodiesince that’s his field..so I don’t understand it when Ghanaians start trolling me for not getting BET nomination or awards..it doesn’t make any sense”.

The International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRWMA ) is an award scheme hosted in Jamaica annually to honor and celebrate reggae-dancehall artistes all over the world.
