The Ashaiman Circuit court has convicted and sentenced a 25 year steel bender to three years jail term in hard labour. Adjei Emmanuel was found guilty on his own plea,convicted and sentenced for the offence of robbery. The court, presided over by His Honour Richard Delali Anku charged Adjei Emmanuel for robbery contrary to section 149 of the criminal offences Act,1960,Act 29. In addition,he is to pay GHS4,650 in default, serve extra 6 months iin prison in hard labour. In a case of the Republic verses Adjei Emmanuel, the investigator D/Insp.Samuel K. Danu-Kumordzi painstakingly investigated and presented his findings. Presenting the brief fact of the case, Chief Inspector Nunoo Mensah told the court that Ellen Achia Frimpomaa who is a nurse by profession and resident at New Sebrekpor, suburb of Mataheko within the Ashaiman municipality and the jurisdiction of the court while the accused person, a steelbender. He recounted that on the August 20,2021,at about 8:00pm, the complainant Ellen Achia Frimpomaa, while walking home from work and upon getting close to Sebrekpor Basic School Park, the accused and one Solo who is now at large, on a motorcycle with an unknown registration number attacked the complainant under threat with knife and snatched her lady's handbag containing old and new voter ID cards, Ghana card, Nursing ID card all of which bear her name,Iphone SS max, small Nokia phone and a cash sum of GGS150.00. The prosecutor further said the accused and the Solo searched the complainant's back pocket under duress and removed her iPhone 6, when she started raising alarm, she was slapped on the left eye several times and they sped off. He said the complainant lodged a complaint with Emefs-Mataheko Police for investigations. Inspector Nunoo Mensah told the court that the complainant thereafter started tracking the phones and within few hours later same day, she received an alert when sim card number 0240817686 was inserted in one of the phones robbed. He added that further investigations led to the arrest of the accused person. He said the investigations indicated that the accused,Solo at large and a witness went to Sidi Mubarack whom they wanted to sell one of phones robbed to. However,the witness upon detecting that the complainant picture and account on the phone, he declined to buy it. Accused went back with the phone and was arrested thereafter.
