The first Deputy speaker of parliament Lawyer Joseph Osei Wusu on behalf of the speaker has asked all MPS and staff who have tested positive for Covid-19 to stay home and observe covid protocols including isolation.

The speaker revealed that 60 members of the house have failed to submit themselves for the test.

The Deputy speaker categorically on the instructions of the main speaker of parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin told all members who have tested positive and still enter the chamber to stay behind until they have recovered.

Speaking on the matter, the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase Alhaji  Muntaka Mubarrack asked that, the speaker directs the Doctors to provide test results to the chief whips of both houses to deal with the situation.

He said a phone call is not enough to inform members that they have tested positive for coronavirus.

Alhaji Muntaka further requested whether positive or negative copies of the result should be given to members and notify the leadership to make sure the affected members do not come to parliament until they provide results that proves it.

Also, the majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu explained that, out of the 60 members who have not gone for the test, eight have subsequently taken part in the exercise leaving a remainder of 52.

The leader emphasized that from next week all members and staff of parliament who fail to undergo testing exercise will not be allowed into the premises of parliament.
