Southern Africa leaders to hold talks on economic growth

Today, heads of state from the Sadc region of southern Africa will gather in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to discuss economic cooperation and growth.

To take part in the two-day summit, which begins on Wednesday, twelve heads of state arrived in the capital city of Kinshasa on Tuesday.

The leaders will talk about ways to advance industrialization through transforming agriculture, developing mineral resources, and creating value chains at the local level.

Additionally, DR Congo plans to ask the bloc for help in reestablishing peace and security on its soil.

The transfer of the bloc leadership from Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera to the President of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, is another goal of the conference.

The Congolese presidency tweeted pictures of some of the African leaders ahead of the summit.
