South African mob kills patient inside ambulance
After the man was hurt during a mob attack, paramedics responded to requests for medical aid.
According to the health authorities of Gauteng province, a crowd attacked and killed a patient in an ambulance while they were suspected of committing a crime.
The paramedics who were treating the patient in the Atteridgeville area were also attacked by the mob, and the ambulance was also damaged.
After the man was hurt during a mob attack, paramedics responded to requests for medical aid. They started providing care on the site and were ready to take the patient to the closest hospital.
According to a statement from the health department, "when the ambulance was about to leave the scene, community people started throwing stones and obstructed the road to prevent the ambulance from leaving... they wanted justice on the spot."
Added was: "Unfortunately, the patient continued to be abused fatally while being transported in an ambulance. Significant damage was done to the ambulance, and medical supplies were taken."
