South Africa faces legal action over power crisis

Threats to sue the government for the damaging blackouts in the nation have been made by opposition organizations, a trade union, and business owners in South Africa.
They have given the administration till Friday to stabilize the supply of energy or risk legal action for failing to uphold its obligation to do so.
They claim that the state is in violation of its commitment to deliver power and have sent a demand letter to Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter.

The president has canceled a meeting due to the issue.
The problem has prompted the president to cancel a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos to hold meetings at home with business and labour leaders.
