A self-acclaimed traditional ruler at Kasoa who allegedly murdered a soldier, Lance Corporal Michael Danso at Millennium City at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, Nana Barima Ababio aka Benlord and and his accomplice, Nana Kofi Kwakye have been hauled before Ofaakor District Court on Thursday August 29,2024 for committal proceedings. 

The committal proceedings will determine whether there is enough evidence to warrant a trial at the High Court of competent jurisdiction.

However, Ofaakor District Court at Kasoa 
was packed as the suspects have appeared for the committal proceedings.

The committal proceedings had finally come to an end, and the two suspects were given a chance to speak before the case was transferred to the High Court for a trial. 

The courtroom was packed, with eager onlookers waiting to hear what the suspects, Benlord Ababio would tell the court.

In a surprising turn of event, the suspects remained tight-lipped.

When the two suspects were asked by the judge if they had anything to say, they simply shook their heads and replied,"We don't have anything to say."

Despite the suspects' silence, the case 
would proceed to the High Court for trial on September 4, 2024

The prosecution was confident that they had a strong case, and the defense would have to work hard to prove their clients' innocence.

Benlord and his accomplice, Nana Kofi Kwakye, are currently in lawful custody.

Both individuals face charges of conspiracy, with Benlord also facing an additional charge of murdering Lance Corporal Michael Danso.

According to the prosecution, on April 30, 2024, at around 1600 hours, Lance Corporal Michael Danso and two colleagues, Lance Corporals Abdul Omar Rahman and Ametus Matthew, drove to Millennium City police station in a Toyota RAV4 to report a trespass.

They were informed that some encroachers were developing a parcel of land belonging to Lance Corporal Abdul Omar Rahman.

The accused appeared at the police station, and Benlord attacked and opened fire on Lance Corporal Michael Danso who driving the vehicle, killing him instantly.

Ben Lord was disarmed by the police and arrested for investigations.
