The District Chief Executive of Wassa East in the Western North Region, Mr Emmanuel Boakye has underscored that, the hardship that Ghana is facing is not the fault of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Akufo Addo.
He stressed that the current economic challenges were as a result of the adverse effects of the COVID-19 and the Russia- Ukraine war.
He mentioned that, despite the hardship, nonetheless government has People With Disabilities at heart. 
Mr Boakye made this statement when the Wassa East District Assembly presented start up kits such as refrigerators, deep freezers, fufu pounding machines among others to 36 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district.
He advised the 36 beneficiaries to use the items profitably so that they can live meaningfully and independently.
The Director of Social Welfare in charge of community development, Madam Emah Nodjoro appealed to Ghanaians to avoid stigmatisation and discrimination against People With Disabilities in the society and treat them with dignity.
The Wassa East District Chairman of People With Disabilities, Mr Isaac Duodu on behalf of his members expressed invaluable gratitude to the government for the gesture in this trying times.
